On the morning of July 10, 2023, RD7, en route from Hong Kong to Singapore, received a distress signal about a capsized fishing vessel located 7 nautical miles away. Without hesitation, RD7’s crew promptly altered their course and reached the scene. They were joined by two other vessels in the Search and Rescue (SAR) operation.
Introduction
On July 10, 2023, the crew of Royal Diamond 7 (RD7), one of our managed vessels, demonstrated exceptional professionalism and courage. Responding to a distress alert about a capsized fishing vessel and missing crew members, RD7’s crew, under challenging conditions, rescued five lives, showcasing the unwavering commitment of seafarers to one another. This incident stands as a testament.
The Rescue Operation
With unparalleled efficiency and dedication, RD7’s crew executed the rescue operation, saving three out of six missing crew members. The rescued individuals, Vietnamese Nationals, were provided with immediate medical attention and care. Despite adverse weather conditions, the crew continued their search until the arrival of SAR 413, deployed by Vietnam Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centres (MRCC).
